During the turn of the century – in Germany the „Kaiserzeit“ – the high society of German empire spent their summer holidays in those exclusive accommodations on Borkum island. 1912 Karl Struck bought the hotel and took over as the hotel director. After World War II it became shelter for many refugees and the was a youth hostel until it was fully restored and reopenined as a Hotel in 2006.
